Nonnas Italian restaurant was founded in 1996, first opening in Sheffield and later on in 2009, Chesterfield. According to Nonnas; the Sheffield restaurant was 'quickly established as one of the city's best loved Italian restaurants' with a large variety of 'authentic dishes prepared using the finest of ingredients of which many are sourced directly from Italy'. The restaurant is situated half way up a busy road, packed with restaurants, shops and fantastic bars, come the evening, there is no end of places to go. The restaurant also has a lively bar next to the dining area that seems very popular to the locals. The restaurant offers live music events through out the week ranging from jazz and blues bands to solo singers offering something for everyone.

I went on a Friday evening as a party of two people around 8pm; the restaurant was fully booked and the bar was lively. The place had a great atmosphere upon arrival and felt very welcoming. The staff were excellent throughout the night. They were very professional in their service and had excellent knowledge of the food and drink they were serving.
For The Love Of Food Recommendations:
For the starter we had the 'Focaccia All'Aglio', strips of focaccia bread with garlic, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese and 'Bruschetta Nduja' which was Nduja served on fresh bread with parsley and parmesan cheese. The starters were excellent, full of flavour and you could taste the freshness from the ingredients in every bite. Similar can be said for the main course. We recommend the 'Lasagne Della Nonna', Nonnas version of an Italian classic that they pride themselves on after using the same recipe since they opened in 1996; it was one of the best lasagnes i have had in a long time! We also tried the 'Tagliatelle Salsiccia' a dish made up of 8 hour slow cooked Italian sausage with tomato, bayleaf and chilli. Full of flavour and the chilli give it that little bit of heat to create a really exciting dish.
